Pioneering the first native consumer app for Avant Money, setting a new standard in digital banking

Situation

Avant Money is a financial services company specializing in credit products, including personal loans and credit cards. Previously operating only through its website, it lacked a mobile app. This project aimed to develop Avant Money’s first app, simplifying the transition from web to mobile and improving user engagement. Additionally, the app needed to clearly communicate Avant Money’s services and value to customers.

Challenge

Our goal was not just to launch an app within 36 weeks but to facilitate a smooth transition from web-based banking to mobile, enhancing user engagement and ensuring operational efficiency. To achieve this, we focused on:


Develop the first native app as the central platform where users can manage their finances efficiently.


Design and integrate all necessary functionalities to ensure an effective and seamless operation.


Offer an intuitive and secure experience, ensuring a smooth transition from the previous web model.

Constraints

We face several challenges in implementing this transformation:


Tight timeline. The project had to be completed within 36 weeks.


No dedicated team initially. The team had to be assembled while the project was already underway.


Cultural integration challenge. Avant Money was acquired by Bankinter, meaning we had to align with a different company culture and internal processes.

Successfully launched the app within the defined timeline with all essential features required for business operations.

Stakeholders


Core project team. Included the Product Owner (PO), Development Team Lead (DTL), developers, and QA specialists who were directly involved in designing, building, and testing the consumer app.


Data, research, and CX teams. Contributed critical insights through data analysis, user research, and customer experience feedback, supporting a user-centered and iterative design approach..


Parallel web Avant Money team and Baninter UX team.

Creating a visual language
 

To give life to the project we have created a new branding with an online vocation clarification. New colors, fresh, accessible and vibrant. A new type, easy to read. A family of icons that are born from the shapes of our logo. And a system of flexible components that will allow us to face each new screen and flow with consistency and speed.

Dashboard
 

Simple, elegant, clear and effective. The user can handle three types of information. Balance, amount owed and transactions. Both pending and executed. The movements are categorized according to the type of expenditure made: shopping, food, technology ... The search engine allows you to find the desired movement easily.

It allows the user to have a control of all their movements ordered monthly.

Cards
Always alert!

In this section the user can access and manage their cards. One of the biggest concerns for customers is knowing when a payment is being made. To respond to their needs we have created a complete alert system. Being able to select multiple options: by amount, by type of operation, how you want to be notified ...

Approving
online purchases

It doesn't matter where the user is. He can validate his online purchases and make them effective with two simple steps.

The user receives a push notification when making the electronic purchase.

The purchase detail shows all the necessary information. The user  can validate or decline it before the stipulated time runs out.

The purchase has been validated successfully ... Time to enjoy it!

Paying the balance should be simple and flexible.

At the end of the month, the user pays off his account. Being able to choose how much and how to pay.
